Ric Ocasek, the lead singer of the band, The Cars, was found dead in in New York home on Sunday.  According to several sources including Variety, he was discovered unconscious and unresponsive inside his home by his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova.

The Cars were an immediate success with their self-titled hit album in the 1978, which included hits such as “My Best Friend’s Girl” and “Just What I Needed.”

The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
