Goodwin graduated magna cum laude from Colby College and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Government from Harvard University, where she later returned to teach a course on the American Presidency. While at Harvard, she worked for President Johnson after having been selected to join the White House Fellows, one of America's most prestigious programs for leadership and public service.
